At the start of the year everyone is always driven and motivated to make big change in the name of annual resolutions, but big change takes extensive planning. If you want that resolution to stick, you need to put the forthought in first.
If your resolutions are monetary, be sure to really scrutinize your budget revisions. The biggest mistake people make with early budgeting is not being realistic with themselves. Money should never be handled with a crash course mentality. Good change, the kind you want, that sticks, is a slow process. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed or frustrated with the time it takes to accomplish your goals. They take as long as they take. Set backs are common and normal.
Also make sure you're dedicated to the resolution. Don't make one of the top resolutions because it seems expected. Invest time and thought into something that really matters to you. The satisfaction of perservering with that goal will be all the more satisfying. Sometimes a simpler goal (like no more soda) is a good way to get off the ground though if you're feeling like you don't have what it takes to complete it, because you do. You can do this.
So get at it!
