Caledon, though largely rural, is on its way to developing into a more urban atmosphere. With a lovely balance of natural landmarks and a unique, though quiet, culture, it's a lovely place to settle in and really make a house a home. The following are some of the aspects that really jump out to make Caledon a unique and community driven place.
Caledon Equestrian Park
With free admission, it's a perfect place to go if you love animals or if you've ever wanted to learn more about the sport of horse training itself. It's an excellent excuse to get outside and has a really open community atmosphere for newcomers. You don't have to know anything about horses to have a great time here. They host non-horse related activities here as well, such as the summer "Date Night in the Park" set ups with movie screenings.
Golfing
If Caledon loves one thing... it loves golf. With SEVEN golf courses in the region, you will never be short a game. The greenery and atmosphere are also great for planning larger scale events (such as weddings).
Hiking/Biking Trails
Caledon is home to many natural wonders. With an extensive list of hiking and biking trails, you're sure to be busy and active in this community. They also offer horseback riding and cross country skiing! They offer detailed maps online for the trails as well for ideal planning so you're sure to have a safe and wonderful experience.
Heritage Walking Tours
If you are a history buff, or have an appreciation for architecture, Caledon's Heritage Walking Tours offer a window into the past to provide people with a newfound appreciation for the dawn of our nation. Learn of the rivers roles in agriculture and commerce and of the townships amalgamation into the Caledon we now know and love.
Headwater Arts Festival
Caledon aids in hosting the multi-township Headwater Arts Festival. The festival spans Caledon, Dufferin County, Orangeville and Erin and offers an enriching experience for the autumnal season. Their goal is to promote and expand art appreciation for the entire Headwaters region.
The Blackhorse Village Theatre
Caledon even has a thriving community theatre scene. The Blackhorse Village Theatre offers an outlet for the theatrically inclined (as of August 7, 2018 they're accepting auditions!) as well as entertainment for adults and families.
Alton Mill Art Centre
The art centre offers a window into the art scene with community classes and workshops. Over 25 artists are currently employed and contributing to their collection. It also makes a lovely place to meet for lunch at their coffee shop if you're looking for a change in atmosphere.
When I started my research, I had no idea what Caledon had to offer. I hope that this list allows more people to come to appreciate the value of its community.
